The Flock
by Jesper Wamsler, translated by Sarah Argent
“My name is Vic. A few years ago, I lived on the streets, with a flock of girls. I was fourteen years old. This is our story…”
A young woman can’t stop remembering the time when she was part of a gang of five wild girls. A time when something went wrong, fatally wrong. And now the girl who had disappeared has come back again, forcing Vic to come to terms with what happened.
The Flock is told by two teenage girls. It is about their vulnerability and resilience, life on the street, crime, sexual exploitation, friendship and loyalty.
Theatr Iolo have forged partnerships with other professional organisations , SHELTER CYMRU, BARNADOS, WOMEN’S AID, CARDIFF AGAINST BULLYING AND HOUSING ADVISE, VALE OF GLAMORGAN, who are offering their resources and free workshops, using their knowledge and expertise to explore themes in the play.

Quotes from performances of The Flock
A sparse, urgent production …. an impressive play.
Western Mail [The National Newspaper for Wales]
I really enjoyed the play … it was very true to life. It was very intense when they were getting in trouble but it was also sad that they were having to live that way. It’s amazing how people can survive like that.
Pupil, Rumney High School
Quotes from Previous Productions
Every now and then the Imaginate Theatr Festival throws up a piece of theatre which is confounding and brilliant, Theatr Iolo’s Bsion & Sons is such a piece.
Edinburgh Evening News, Bison & Sons
An hour of crystal clear brilliance
Theatre in Wales website, The Room
I should like to thank you all very much for the splendid performance we enjoyed today. It was so powerful that many of us were genuinely moved. The quality of the production was of the impeccable standard that we have come to expect from Theatr Iolo. I think our opinions were summed up by one girl with tears in her eyes saying, "Oh, Miss, I LOVED it. I didn't want it to stop."
Ysgol Bryn Hafren, The Ugly Truth
Very thought provoking… very real and raw … another Theatr Iolo triumph!
