Journey
Company devised
It has toured extensively to schools in South Wales in English and in Welsh. In 1993 it was performed at the Luaga Losna Festival in Austria – the start of an association which continues to this day. This new production of Journey has been designed by Portuguese designer Ana Mestre and has been performed at the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff, the Polka Theatre, Half Moon Theatre, the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith, and the Lighthouse, Poole.
Inspired by the paintings and sculptures of Picasso, Journey tells the story of an old woman returning to the place where she was born. Along the way she meets an old sea captain and his friend – a talking bird. Neither wants anything to do with the other, but they soon come to realise that they must share and co-operate if they want to continue on with their Journey.
Journey explores themes which are very real to younger children such as friendship, sharing, mutual dependency and creativity.
