Dont Stop NowDon't Stop Now
'Don’t Stop Now!' a drama workshop for 13 and 14 year old girls and boys was launched on January 30th at Ysgol Plasmawr. The workshop aimed to challenge attitudes and promote discussion on the way gender can affect job choice.

The Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning Jane Davidson AM, opened the workshop, addressing the audience of teenagers. Jane Davidson then joined the teenagers, sharing her experiences with them during the workshop.

The pilot project has been developed by Theatr Iolo with partners Careers Wales, Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Plasmawr and the Equal Opportunities Commission. Schools in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan have been invited, in the first instance, to work with us to develop an efficient and effective way of working with PSE departments.

Despite 30 years of sex equality legislation, deep-rooted perceptions about the role of men and women in society still continue to have an impact on the careers young people choose. Although women are increasingly entering professions such as medicine, law and accountancy for example, there are far fewer in the world of science, engineering, IT or the skilled trades.  Men on the other hand are rarely found working as child minders or nursery nurses.
