The Ugly Truth

Playwright Gary Owen and Director Sarah Argent have teamed up to create Theatr Iolo’s latest production ‘The Ugly Truth’.

Gary Owen, described as a writer of his time, is the first playwright in Wales to be commissioned by the new National Theatre Wales to create his production Love Steals us from Loneliness.

Sarah Argent most recently worked for the WNO MAX as the librettist and director for a new opera ‘The Real Princess’. Sarah who directed, ‘Finding leaves for soup’ and the highly acclaimed ‘Under the Carpet’ for Theatr Iolo has been invited by the company to turn her sights to an older audience.

The provocative new play for teenagers explores themes of body image, self esteem, peer pressure and personal and social responsibility – at the same time introducing young people to the power and excitement of live theatre.
