Practical Leadership for University Management

Theatr Iolo has developed role play workshops with the Human Resources Division of Cardiff University, providing practical sessions in leadership and management skills for university staff. Our team of experienced actors engage with academic and administrative personnel in role play sessions that challenge participants to explore ways to manage potentially difficult situations.

Ready Or Not , Transition Project

Theatr Iolo was invited to work with Martin Hughes, Professor in Education at Bristol University Graduate School of Education to collaborate on the Home-School Knowledge Exchange Project. Extensive research was carried out by the University in both Cardiff and Bristol schools which was explored further through Theatr Iolo Drama Workshops. From this research, the play Ready or Not was written by Glenys Evans. The play has been presented at Educational Researchers Conferences at Warwick University and in Glasgow where it has been welcomed as an innovative way of disseminating research as well as in Wales at a conference about transition for teachers. A DVD of the Project has been created and distributed to schools in Cardiff and Bristol.

Ready or Not is available to be used as a stimulus for exploring themes around transition. The company continues to receive requests from schools to provide INSET. The company can also offer workshops for young people in a number of ways, for example:

    • workshops for year 6 pupils to explore and discuss fears and expectations
    • workshops for school mentors at high school level that give them the skills to lead workshops with their teacher
