Call out for freelance creative learning project leaders / workshop leaders

Theatr Iolo are looking for 2 or 3 people to design and run workshops for children aged 7-13 this autumn. The workshops are linked to a new play called The Welsh Dragon by Kyle Lima. You can read more about the play here.

As part of the development of The Welsh Dragon we are going to be delivering free workshops for children aged 7-13 to explore their own Welsh identity and what it means to be living and growing up in Wales in 2023. These workshops will happen both in the community with families, and in school settings. 50% of the workshops will be delivered in Welsh.

As The Welsh Dragon is exploring black ancestry and Welsh mythology, we would like to work with people who are Welsh and black for this project. We are also looking for at least one of the people we work with to be a Welsh speaker, as 50% of the workshops will be delivered in Welsh.

We are taking a flexible approach to appointing these roles, so wish to hear from anyone who is interested and what skills they can bring to this project.

We are looking for people with the following skills and experience:

-        People with experience of creating workshops to be delivered to families and / or in a school setting, with knowledge of the new Curriculum for Wales

-        People with experience of delivering workshops to families and / or schools

-        People with administrative experience of booking workshops with community venues and / or schools

-        People who speak Welsh and feel confident delivering workshops in the medium of Welsh

We are particularly interested in hearing from people who identify as Welsh and are Black. Black ancestry and Welsh identity are a key part of this project, so it’s important that we have a team of people with lived experience of this.
